Academy of Art University shows off fashion student designs in their spring showcase

In 1929 the Academy of Art University or formerly known as Academy of Art College opened their doors in California to those that have a passion for the art world. Today the graduating class of 2018 had a chance to display their creations in the Spring Show and Student Showcase. This showcase is put on annually for the for the graduates to have a chance to show off their fashion designs on a runway. A experience that helps prepare them for the their future fashion endeavors.

Within this years graduating class there were students from all over the world, not just the United States but also China, Vietnam, Nigeria, Mexico, and more. Having such a diverse group of students and viewpoints helps with student creativity. The president of Academy of Art University states that students from different backgrounds and cultures inspire and help each other in important ways.

One of the students that greatly benefited from the diversity at Academy of Art University is Brandon Kee. Brandon Kee competed on the popular TV show Project Runway during the 16th season of the show a short year after graduation. His designs were so inspirational that he was inspiring other contestants throughout the show. Even though he didn’t win he was a finalist contestant and showed his talent and passion for the fashion world. Brandon Kee said that being a contestant on Project Runway pushed was a test to his abilities.

The Academy of Art University is a for profit college in San Francisco California. As of now they have 12,608 students with a staff of 1,437 teacher, both full time and part time.

Fashion is not the only subject the Academy of Art University focuses on, they also have degree programs in entertainment, fine arts, and liberal arts. As well as a acceptance rate of 100%.
